I’d like to thank my mother…

I discovered yesterday that the Vuka campaign (see the “Vuka - What Went Down” post) won the Best Campaign of the Year at the Marketing Society of Kenya’s awards. COOL!

I will be giving a short presentation of some animated work (titled - deep breath - Paradigms of Motion Design & Compositing for Highend Production - phew!) at Animated Kenya on the 6th of December at the Sarit Center.
Find out more here. Time to dust off the ol’ Powerpoint, I guess.

Those of you who live (or have lived) in Nairobi will probably enjoy going through 24 Nairobi’s website. In their words:
“The 24 Nairobi project is intended as a showcase of a modern African city through the eyes of its own photographers. This is an alternative, innovative, realistic and professional African perspective. All the photographers reside in Nairobi and grew up or now call Nairobi “home”…”
Of particular note (to me) are photos by Boniface Mwangi - award-winning photojournalist - who captured a side of Nairobi that most of us haven’t encountered (or would want to encounter, for that matter). Just finished a new music promo for Just A Band’s Hey!, which starred two soft stars: Wilberforce “Boflo” Kangwana and Betty Katunge.
And in other news, Iwinyo Piny; a video I helped Just A Band out with - with the help of animator Daniel Muli - has been nominated for a KORA 2008 ‘Best African Video Clip‘ award! Woohoo!
Hello everyone,
This is the new blog and site. Hopefully, everything’s easier to find (and read).
Comments/feedback would be delicious!

After doing the “Maisha” video for Just A Band early this year, I swore NEVER to airbrush a video again. Over the past two weeks, I found myself doing just that for Atemi’s new (and first) music video for her single “Speechless”.

I’ve been having fun with lurid lights and color. Mmmm….
The band is good, too. Check them out on the 1st of August, if you can.

As a result of the whole Afrigadget saga (which, frankly, is overwhelming), a question that has come up plenty of times is: “Did it work?”, and “Do you have photos that were lit by the cardboard lights?”. Here’s a unedited photo I took of Mbithi using the two units I made:
